Probably not going to build for a month or two but I applied for a job and decided I was gonna figure out how I was going to spend the money I will hopefully make :D

I was looking for something to do gaming (CSS, TF2, COD4 and some future games), photoshop/video edit, and of course websurf + music.

I quit paying attention to what parts were hot a couple months ago but I was planning on going for Intel + ATI. I was aiming for 600, realized that wasnt enough and said, "Fine 700 " and to no surprise ended up at $800

Heres what I came up with:

Intel E6550 2.33 GHz (Just picked what appeared the best CPU in price range. Wild mildly overclock.)

VisionTek ATI 3850 (Sorta sketchy here, is it a good card?)

Asus P5N-D (Complete sketch here. Didnt know what to pick. Needs PCI 2.0 for GPU right? Will nVidia chipset work with ati (dumb question?)

Thermaltake Purepower 550w (Again, I never was very good at picking PSU...help please?)

DVD/CD, Case, and HDD were just picked by what looked cheap and appealing.

So...how did i do? I definately need suggestions on MOBO, PSU and maybe GPU and CPU (lol...alot).

Thanks in advance.
You guys are awesome.

they are good PSU's i just didnt feel a 100$ PSU was necassary and thet put u over your budget so why not spend less for PSU just as good maybe not much wattage but 550 is more then enough for your system.

The 550W power supply would be sufficient to run most cards, including the 8800GT and the 8800GTS which you should think about if you plan on doing some gaming.

Mmmkay, i like that. Would the 9600 be better than that video card?
And what do you think about the PSU instinct recomended?
i don't know about that PSU i have never used a rosewell.
the only reason i put a $100 PSU in was i was trying to keep this computer upgradable.
the 9600GT in 3DMARK06 is the same as that 3870 but the 3870 will overclock alot better than the 9600GT.
i have the gigabyte 3870 an it is great an i have no OC on it.
