that is a nice build but is pretty overkill. i would go with some cheaper things like this motherboard (which is a lot cheaper on the egg), this set of ram (no need for 16gb, go with 4 and get more later if you absolutely need it, although what do you plan on doing with the build?), this psu, although you should be able to get by with an 850 watt psu like this one, and i would wait until amd releases their 69xx series graphics cards and get one of those instead of jumping right into a crossfire setup. never really a good idea...

Agreed... overkill
I dont know of any games that need 16gb ram, or any use that will utilize it
3 monitors - unless you're a stock broker of architect, you don't have the means to look at all 3 at the same time
PSU - your computer will run perfectly, with juice to spare with half that wattage
Rest of the build is a damned nice system

Yea I guess I got carried away on futureproofing lol. Maybe cutting back to 8 gbs would make more sense. Also maybe drop to a 1000 watt psu. I'm gunna keep the trip monitor setup for multitasking like a game in the middle with a map or guide on one screen and music / server status, security camera setup etc

-I would think a 1600 psu would be what you would want to power an entire server, or 4 graphic cards which for me is too much(I like setups with single cards, 2 max). 800-1000watts is what i'd go with if you're going to Crossfire 2 cards.

-Those are big monitors you selected, which can be good or bad depending. Do you have a big enough desk for them and can you set your rig up comfortably still? The GPU does support 3 monitors(eyefinity ftw) though so it appears you could add them later if need be. I'd go with a single 17 or 19 because I have a smaller desk.

-That's a lot of ram! You'd have to run a lot of simultaneous programs to take full advantage of 16gb, i'd instead get 4-8 gigs of 1600-2000mhz rated dual channel and you should be good to go.

What case are you getting, or do you already have one that you plan on using with these parts?

All good points. Thanks for all the input. I'm planning on sticking it all in the full tower haf x full tower btw. And I wad wondering if 3 gpus would fit and how many pcie slots would b left over?

With the one I linked above you won't have any slots left. Motherboards that support 4-way crossfire or sli are rare and expensive as hell.

I only need 3 way crossfire tho. With one spot left for sound card

If you are planning on doing 3-way crossfire with 3 6870s I would wait until the 69xx gpus come out and do a 2-way crossfire with them. Going straight into any crossfire setup is never really a good idea and obviously going straight into a triple one is just not something that should be considered. Or did you mean down the road?

would be much more cost-effective, and then you wouldn't need an absolutely ridiculous power supply. and then you have more options for upgrading down the road.

If I were you, I'd wait like the others said. Instead of 3-way xfire, why not do two cards and a GTS 250, GTS450, or a cheap GTX 260?

Sli is not supported by any of those boards since they are amd chipsets.

Unless of course you mean crossfire and physx, which isn't allowed to be discussed on cf ;)

but can it be mentioned? Don't you have that kind of setup?

Oh go ahead and mention it, by all means please do :) The more ideas the better. But I was just saying that for his budget he might as well go for a 6870. That way he can get more out of it before upgrading down the road.

No I don't have a 6xxx series card (and probably never will).

EDIT: sorry I was thinking of a different thread. Meant to say he miight as well go with a 69xx card.

What I meant was a PhysX setup with AMD.
