new build, this time amd

Well I need more then one because I'm going to eventually have 3 monitors and would ask like the option of connecting it to my tv. So would 2 5870 and a lower end one for the physx work? Maybe with a 1200 psi?

While going straight into an Xfire setup isn't usually a good thing, the 6000 series cards scale amazingly well in Crossfire and two HD 6870s will soundly thrash a GTX480 while producing less noise and heat. I don't see what the problem with just getting two of the cards is. Plus they'll run 3 monitors very well.

nice build giver shit i just built a Intel core i7 950, 12 gig ddr3 2000 ram and a sweet raideon 5970. nice to have what you want even if it is an overkill. someday in the near future it wont be.

Post your specs and what was the cost if you don't mind me asking? I am looking at a similar build...

1- Why on earth are you building from tigerdirect? Newegg.ca is better. So is NCIX.com.

2- Stay the hell away form OCZ Gold. They have some good RAM, but that isn't it.

3- 1600W is complete overkill for this. Three 6870's and a Phenom II should use no more than 700W...an 850W unit would be comfortably adequate for this build. A 750W would also probably work, but you'd be pushing it. Best to leave some head room.

4- Why an H70? It's both more expensive and less effective than a good air cooler.
