New build/upgrade help

Ok so I want to upgrade the build I have in my sig because I think my mobo is going out. Here's the deal: I want to build a core i7 computer by getting a new mobo, cpu, ram, and case. However, I just recently upgraded to Visa Ultimate 64 bit and finally got everything the way I want it. My question...

If I change my motherboard, CPU, and ram, can I still use my hard drive with Vista on it without having issues? In other words, can I just put the hard drive I'm using now into the new machine, update the drivers, and be good to go or...? Thanks!

Also, just FYI, here's my proposed new build...

CPU: Intel Core i7 920
Mobo: Asus P6T
Ram: 6GB (3x2GB) OCZ Reapers
Case: Antec 900

OS's customize themselves to your specific hardware.

It may work if you uninstall all your drivers first. I've heard
that works, but I've never tried it, nor would I recommend it.

Make sure to back everything up first.

Well I have switched my hard drive between 3 different systems and not had any problems. If you do try it make sure you uninstall every driver and update and program that went to your old motherboard,CPU and you might have a chance of it working but note if you do this you will not be able to restore your windows if anything happens to it because it will recognize it a new system and will refuse to restore. So if anything happens then your screwed. It worked for me but other people have not been so lucky try it at you own risk.

Thanks for the quick replies guys! Yea the more I think about it, the more I believe it may cause more headaches than I need. I'm just going to get a new 1TB hdd and install a fresh copy of Vista on it and then transfer everything over from my old hdd. It sucks but it's better than screwing up my system.

By the way, is my mobo ok for this build? I need a 1366 board that supports SLI for my cards and that was the best I could find. How's EVGA when it comes to boards?

Thanks! Yea it helped a little actually. I figured with Vista Ultimate it would be smart enough to realize that the mobo had been changed but why risk it? So I'm going to buy a new 1TB hard drive, install Vista on that, put my other hard drive in, boot into my new 1TB, and finally just drag and drop all of my files onto the new drive. It's time consuming but then I'm guaranteed to not lose data.
