Hi everyone ^_^ I’m posting this so I can share my experience with the Rampage III Formula from the start. This motherboard hasn't been out that long. Well here goes… I’m a huge a fan of ROG, I have a G50VT-X1 laptop, I love it to death it’s that awesome. I always wanted that ASUS made a line of other ROG products beside laptops. My wish obviously came true.
After careful consideration I decided to choose the Rampage III Formula as my motherboard for my desktop build. At first I wanted to buy the Rampage Extreme III but after a bit of research , I came to the conclusion that it had too many issues, in my opinion they made it too loaded with a bunch of features to the point that it got compatibility issues and has major flaws in the design. The overkill of it was its demise for many people. xD Anyway, Beside having the Rampage III Formula as my motherboard here are the other things I plan to use in my desktop :
-CPU: Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz
-VGA: EVGA GTX 460 Superclocked in SLI (2)
-RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 Triple channel kit Model: TR3X6G1600C8D According to the manual online it was compatible with the motherboard…
-POWER SUPPLY: Antec EarthWatts EA750 750W Continuous Power ATX12V version 2.3 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC "compatible with Core i7/Core i5" Power Supply
And all the little stuff ofcourse… DVD drive, Harddrive (1TB), Case (Made the mistake though getting a mid-tower instead of a full, never order parts late at night when you are tired!) Probably have to trade it in for a different one if it doesn't work out. Better heat sink and fan ---> main reason why the case will be too small the heat sink is hugeeee! 130 X 100 X 158 MM it's a Scythe SCMG-2100 Sleeve CPU Cooler.... Let's see 2 additional case fans (you never know >_>) and a new large screen
I ordered my parts Friday on Newegg so they should be here around next Thursday… Feel free to give any advice or comments…
Thanks...
