New Build

Hey guys, what do you all think of this build? I'm looking for a nice multitasking/light gaming/photoshop machine. I was wondering if I could go with a cheaper power supply, too. I know I don't want to skimp there, but I don't see a reason in buying something really expensive if I don't need it. I'm also looking for a graphics card suggestion: I don't need to play Crysis or anything, but I want to play some games and have nice video and photoshop playback. (I might not need one, because my dad has a nice one that was ordered in error he might be able to give me.) Can I get away with anything cheaper and really not notice much difference? I do a lot of multitasking, so I was planning on unlocking the Phenon II X2, and maybe some light overclocking. Any suggestions?

Thanks for all the help guys. That new PSU cut a nice chunk out of the price, thanks for that.

Since your CPU is AM3 Get a motherboard that supports Strictly AM3 and DDR3 1333 Mhz Ram.

Try this motherboard

For that board, do I need to run DDR3? It seems to be more expensive, and I am on a bit of a budget. What is the advantage to a board that only supports AM3, and not 2? I'm really just curious.

Thanks again for the help. Hopefully my dad will have the GPU for me, but if not, both of those look great.

I'd get a SATA - DVD burner - vs an IDE for a new build. I accidentally ordered an IDE for my build ( the LG drive I was planning on getting sold out ) - and it works just fine - but it's a fugly cable that I'd rather not have in my PC.

I missed that! Thanks for the tip, found the same one with a SATA cable.

You've convinced me to go AM3 only. How does this DDR3 RAM look? It's fast and hardly any more expensive.

one thing I learned real quick was to never cheap out on the power supply, I bought my wife an antec 550 watt that can push a gtx 260oc and other stuff without issue while I have a cheaper 650watt that can't even budge the same parts..

Hey. I've made a couple of changes.

I'm going with kingston ram (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134812&Tpk=KVR1333D3N9/2G), because my dad can get it cheap. While I like the Samsung harddrive, we found the one I wanted cheaper, too, and I don't think I'll need over 250 (I have dual 250gb externals now), so the 750 should be a decent padding. My dad also can't get cool master, but he has antec stuff, so I think we're buying a PSU from them. A bit more expensive, but his supplier discount helps, and the peace of mind should be nice.

Thanks for all the help guys. You've given me a lot of confidence in this build.
