I'm trying to build a new computer and just need some help, I'm pretty sure this should all work together but I'd like the opinion of some experts :P. I'm posting links to where i'm going to buy it all from, so if you want to suggest something else, please look on that website.

Motherboard: http://canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=022355&cid=MBD.303
CPU: http://canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=020622&cid=CPU.840
Hard Drive: http://canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=024135&cid=HDD.443.877
RAM: http://canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=026391&cid=RAM.346.539
Video Card: http://canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=026598&cid=VDC.243
Power Supply: http://canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=015708&cid=PSU.532

I'm also looking for a RS232 port but that seems to be too old-school, any help there would be appreciated. I want a new case too but i'm guessing any mid-tower will do.

Any input would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

I'm using this computer for video editing, lots of multitasking, streaming videos, no gaming really, but I'd like a nice, fast computer that won't get out of date in a year.

Cant use a AMD socket AM3 motherboard with a Intel processor.

+1,

If you want the core i7 920, you need to choose MOBO with a 1366 socket. You'll also need triple channel RAM to go along with it. The motherboard and CPU are kindof tied together. You can't choose an AMD CPU and Intel motherboard or vicey versa. You also can't choose a socket 1366 intel cpu with a socket 775 motherboard. You need to match the socket of motherboard to the socket of CPU.

Thought so, but I really had no idea what kind of motherboard would go with that processor. Suggestions?

EDIT: Alright I changed the motherboard, and I'm finding different RAM now. Thanks

EDIT: RAM and Motherboard changed, looks good now?

I would scale back, and choose an AM3 processor to go with that board, like a Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition, and 2x2Gigs DDR3 1600.

Then choose a better graphics card like a 4870/4890.

Good choice for a gamer. the OP never mentioned what he wanted to use his computer for.

Could you let us know what you want your computer to do for you? as in what functions will you use it for - multi-tasking - what kinds of apps - video editing - photo editing - general web surfing / word processing / gaming - etc?
