Build a computer for the first time,Got everything were i think it is supposed to go.

Went to try and turn on but it doesn't,Nothing happens.
Did i put the wrong wires from the power supply in wrong spot?

I do know that my powersupply has a 24 pin connecter and motherboard has a 20 pin connecter,Could that be the problem?Should i go buy a different one?

The newer supplies since the P4s first were introduced see an extra 4 pin section that will pop off of the main connector. That's to allow use on older boards seeing the 20pin and not standard 24pin sockets.

It sounds like you are working with an old board to begin with. Some system information might help here. But the first thing to look over more closely at this time is the wires coming in from the power, reset buttons and leds to make those are on the correct pins.

There are usually two blocks with one seeing addition front or top usb ports possible front or top audio ports going there while the main is next to the edge of the board on most boards. Look over the diagram in the manual that came with the board and cross check those since it's too easy to have a pair reversed or jumped to a wrong pin.

make sure all the connects for the PSU are in and in the right way.

Make sure the ram is sitting correctly....

Make sure the screws are all in for the motherboard....

Does it power up??? or it does nothing.....

if it does nothing, check the button wires are correct.
