new comp crashing

I just got my new computer the other day, and when I play games, the computer starts to get loud and the temperature of the cpu slowly creeps up to about 65 C and then the computer just shuts off. I can browse the internet fine, this just happens when I start to play games. Here are my specs:

CPU: AMD Phenom™II X4 965 Black Edition Quad-Core CPU w/ HyperTransport Technology

FAN: CoolerMaster V6 CPU Cooler (Copper Base Double-V Heatpipe)

MEMORY: 4GB (2GBx2) DDR3/1600MHz Dual Channel Memory Module

MOTHERBOARD: Asus M4A87TD EVO AMD 870 Chipset CrossFireX Support DDR3 Socket AM3 ATX w/ 7.1 Audio, GbLAN, IEEE1394a, USB3.0, SATA-III, RAID, 2 Gen2 PCIe, 1 PCIe X1, & 3 PCI

POWERSUPPLY: 750 Watts - Corsair CMPSU-750TX 80 Plus Power Supply - Quad SLI Ready

VIDEO: AMD Radeon HD 6870 1GB GDDR5 16X PCIe Video Card

I downloaded speedfan to check the temperatures in my comp, which is how I know it is an overheating problem of some sort. I checked the fans, and all case fans are spinning as well as the heatsink fan. Also, when I boot back up, I get an error sayin "cpu fan error" so do you guys have any ideas or advice on how to fix this?

Has this got the stock CPU cooler. Check the CPU fan connector and make sure its plugged into the board good. Sound like its not speeding up under load. That CPU Fan Error means its not detecting a fan plugged into the CPU fan header or its turning to slow.

Did you build this yourself? If not, take it back and get it fixed, otherwise reapply thermal paste on CPU.

I'm with bigfella on this one. Clean up the thermal paste on the CPU and Cooler, re-apply, and make sure it's secured nice and tight.

Also, try keeping the case open and observe the fan under load - is it speeding up and slowing down properly? Make sure it's plugged into the right header on the motherboard!! ;) ;)

but... if under warranty, dont do shit.. take it back, act dumb and ask for it to be fixed. back up any files first.

It is plugged into the slot labeled CPU_FAN on the mobo, i triple checked. When i turn it in, the fan seems to be running just fine. Its really weird though because when I am in the bios and I go to power settings, I can literally watch the CPU temperature rise from 30 C to 70 C and then just turn off. Just by being in the bios, not even running any games or anything. Any yes I bought it from a website cyberpower pc and I'm probably just going to return it, come back here for advice on how to build one, and do it myself -_-
