I'd say cut to 4GB(2x2GB) save like $700 yeah you really think you need 16 GB?! not even close lol 4GB will do fine and get 2 HD5870s in Crossfire also go with better power supply like corsair and PC power & Cooling, something around that area

CPU - Intel i5 750 over AMD phenom IIx4 965 unless you want Crossfire.
Go for i7 920 if you can afford

RAM - 4-6 GB would be the usual set up. Get something like DDR3 1600 2x 2GB for AMD or P55. 3 x2GB for X58

Harddisk - My preference is Seagate

Video Card - 5850 would be better choice

Soundcard - I would get Asus over Creative for music. But the one you've chosen is the best gaming soundcard

PSU - Don't get Rosewill. Get Antec TruePower Quattro TPQ-1000 or SILVERSTONE OP1000-E 1000W, you won't need 1000W unless you running 3 video card. 850W would be enough for dual video card.

Optical Drive - Blu-ray burner is not common yet and they are expensive. I recommend a blu-ray reader

Speaker - Should you get a higher end speakers? I don't think you worth spending $170 soundcard on $80 speaker... Get something like Logitech Z-2300, Audioengine 2, JBL SOUNDSTICKSII such that you can enjoy the sound quality.

Is Western Digital VelociRaptor 300GB worth the money??
Seagate 7200.12 with similar marks and it is a lot cheaper...

Western Digital VelociRaptor 300GB - WD3000HLFS 741marks
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST3500418AS 500GB 771marks

Get SSD if you really want it fast

Just don't RAID those Seagate drives...or if you must, make sure you have a really good backup regimen...and expect to have to use the backup:P

I'll start looking at Seagate again...AFTER they get their product quality under control and get some experience behind their phone support people.

Wow. That's very interesting. I wasn't aware of the performance data.

Who would have thought a 16mb cache, 7200 rpm drive would score better than a 16mb cache, 10,000 rpm drive.

That Seagate would be hard not to buy. :o
