Nice system. Might want to go with a different motherboard. Maybe an Asus, DFI, or MSI. The one I have got good reviews, Asus makes good boards and the Neo by MSI is good. Nice processor, good video card, the PSU will be able to hold it. You will see a performance boost, especially in gaming, which I would guess you are doing.

amds are generally better for gaming. both of the systems you have are pretty nice. well they arent the same clock speed considering ones clocked at 3.4 ghz and ones clocked at 2.4 ghz. are you trashing your other computer?

well ima take my other 6800gt out my other comp and my ram..and put it in the new one...i just thought i herd that even tho AMD the clock speed may say somthing but it really is faster like smoother in gaming then my 3.4 would be....

is that PSU good to run all that stuff SLI and all or no

1. not sure if there is a reserator2 yet or not... i dont follow Zalman stuff much
2. if you're making a system for gaming, you'll notice quite the performance jump :)

no real direct translation available (and neither should anyone really attempt to make one cuz that just makes things complicated hehe) the A64-4000 is 2.4ghz and the Pentium4 3.4ghz is 3.4ghz... just leave it at that (as long as we both know clock speed is just a number associated with things (kinda like say how 8 is associated with a spider and 6 with an ant... no direct translation available)

have a look at PSU 101 and CPU 101.

The main thing im wondering is...with this BIG upgrade... i will now have

2xXFX GEFORCE 6800GT's
AMD64 4000+ Processor
im going to overclock it also...thats why i got the liquid cooling...and change my motherbored to DFI

it all comes down to this....with this upgrade will i be good in gaming for the next year or so?

To be honest you'll prolly SEE a difference if you shift to dual core ... because from P4 3.8 to A64-4000 you'll be going from 100fps to 150fps ... a difference you wont notice :) Now the X2s arent nearly as good in singlethreaded games (and yes there are multithreaded games) but you'll notice a day to day difference :)

believe the links to parts on previous page cost more than $500. OR is the processor up to $500? If its the processor, i'd say get the 4200+ or 3800+ dualcore X2.

Based on the original post, im guessing it's just the CPU budget (maybe CPU+Mobo) ... in either case, the X2-4200 is in that bracket :)
