Sounds good, newegg is a great source. Your graphics card might need a little more kick for the gaming, just a suggestion.

well im not going to be doing any hardcore gaming, just a little.
i was going to chose the 512mb version of that card but was told to get this version as it is ddr3 compared to ddr2 of the 512 mb version

HDD: SAMSUNG SpinPoint T Series HD501LJ 500GB /Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST3500320AS 500GB

GPU: $105 enough for a 8600GTS
XFX PVT84GUDF3 GeForce 8600GTS 256MB

PSU: no idea what PSU you are using

OK.
so i got my new computer last week and after realizing that the guy installed the CPU cooler in the wrong way i had to do it properly, the zalman is so big i had to take out the motherboard just so i had enough room to put the clips back on.

i currently have 3*120mm fans and 1*80mm fan in there aswell as the zalman CNPS 9500LED.

im just wondering how my cpu temps are going. at idle i get about 26 degrees and under load i get in the 40's.
is this good? i dont plan to OC, or at this moment anyway.

Thanks, Luke

hey guys,
just a bit of a worry here.
when i first got my computer core would idle at about 26-28 and case temp at 36.

now the core is sitting on about 33 at idel.

why has this changed over the past week and is there something that i should be doing to prevent this change.

thanks, luke

I have an E6750 @ 3.0 and it idles at about 31 deg. I think you should only start to worry if it goes over 60 deg.

Temps can go up and down a lot, at the moment, I'm idle at 27c, sometimes it can be 33c... nothing to worry about!

i dont play that many games but at the moment im playing COD4, crysis.
i have found the 8600gt to be alright, havent had any disappointments yet

i actually got it last week.
after ages of putting everything on it i am pretty happy with it.
from what i can tell so far there isnt a giant difference from my old p4 3.0ghz, but i havent tested it that much.
i have noticed that xp isnt as stable as it used to be, every so often explorer just decided to reset its self, i dont know if it is a configuration setting i have done wrong or what.

but overall i am happy with it

lol if you cant tell a giant difference then you really need to get some glasses, or reinstall windows. the e8400 has like a 75% increase of performance/clock speed, and twice the cores

E8400 should be blowing your p4 out of the $&*#& tbh...

lol. for basic things you dont realise it.
but i have noticed that converting a dvd takes now about 20 mins, where as before it took about 90mins,.
big difference there
