Southern California; Orange County. Fry's yes! Online stores, maybe...of course YES!

Needed: O.S, Monitor, Mouse, Keyboard plus all computer components.

I am getting frustrated trying to stay within budget for what I am looking for. I want a computer that will play StarCraft2 and Diablo3, when released, on highest resolutions. Also 1TB HDD is a must. Intel iSeries is a must as well. A colorful case is a must. PLEASE HELP ME BUILD MY COMPUTER!!

Closer to $1200, a little over will be ok.

those games sound like something an i5 system could tackle... if you go to a thread labeled "That Computer Build... Updated" in the Desktop Computers section, we have a 1000$ i5 system that you could upgrade to your liking ;)

You can get it with the budget, but you'd have to sacrifice on other components. An i7 is great, but if you are trying to game, and your i7 made you downgrade your GPU, you're gonna get crud FPS.

Well, you gotta factor in the expense of an X58 motherboard, dude...
The X58 adds like 100$, the i7 adds like 90$... it's gonna end up being a GPU bottleneck. If I were you, I'd get the i5 and a 5850 GPU.

Scott, I checked out your computer club build specs and it seems all good to me. I was pricing a list earlier but kept flying over budget. Looks like I am going over budget on this.. No other way. An i7 is a must and I am not going to sucker the GPU because of it.

Got work in a bit, but when I get back I'll work on a list. Check back tomorrow to see what I posted.

Thanks Scott,

-Steve

?? So you're getting an i5 or i7? With an i5 + 5850 you should remain in budget, but an i7 will push you too high.

You shouldn't have to skimp that much on the components. The only things you might have to miss out on now would be a fancy mouse, keyboard, speakers etc. An i7 computer itself should be able to be made within the $1200 limit that you have. You'd have to count out the 5970 as your video card purchase though :P

He's in O.C. so yes there is a Micro Center and they had i7 920 for 199, they're now 229. I'll be there later today. As for the case I agree I like the CM better, I have an Antec 900 and on my most recent build in the process of, I opted for the Haf Storm scout. I have a 4870 and 4870X2, but I'd go with the 5850 for a GPU. Save up and get what you want for just a few bucks more. You can get the following

Case your choice $60-120 range nice case
i7 920 $229.00 Micro Center
HD 1 T.B. WD Micro Center 99.99
Ram 6GB OCZ 119.00 after rebate Newegg
PSU Corsair 650 or higher 79.00 Newegg after rebate
Card reader if u need $15-20 Newegg
DVD $30.00 Anywhere
O.S. $30.00 student deal or 139.00 win 7 professional
5850 $300 or save 1/2 and go with 5770 for $150

You can be close to the $1000.00 range.

:( Never said it was my job... it's more of a money-making hobby. And like I said, the build here: http://www.computerforum.com/167783-computer-club-build-updated.html would do nice as a base, and then you can increase some parts quality to your liking.

You guys all had some good things to say. I'm going to run that solid model you got going Scott and work from there. I should have a list up soon, then pictures of the build. Hopefully show you guys my first build.
