New computer advice

I plan to build a computer in the next few months and before i start i want to know.....
1. How much will it cost just for the tower.no monitor. I want to but it with good parts but not expensive parts.
2. Where is a good place to buy all peices.
3. Will i save alot by building it my self?
4. Is there anyone i can contact for advice when needed that is on alot and would be willing?

i just bought most of my stuff on newegg, some pretty good deals!

It depends on how much you want to spend but you should save some money building yourself.

I'm not on enough and todays tech is sort of new to me :/. Whats your budget?
 
Yeah Newegg.com is a great place...i would compare prices with tigerdirect.com I actually built a nice system off of Newegg, I am choosing a AMD and ATI build that is only running me 750 after mail in rebates...about 80 bucks worth. Antec cases are on sale there and so are the OCZ power supplies. Look for coupon codes you can enter on check out. I just feel like right now ATI has some more bang for the buck at the moment, but i could be wrong haha. Does that help?

I am not sure if i would spend money on the networking card, I have never used one so I would maybe ask someone else on that. Also right now i think Seagate has a 500 gig HD for about the same price, I have always liked them. I don't know much about Samsung HD's or do I know much about the MoBo brand..you use them before? I always suggest MSI, DFI, or ASUS for boards...what does anyone else think....nice choice of graphics card, good bang for the buck.
 
so is 600 dollars a decent amount i have as much as i want but i want to keep it lol im a high schooler who is in my 3rd year of computer hardware classes and im an online game private server coder and i just want a project to build
 
bigguyjake - the Mobo was highly raated but what do i know XD. I wasnt thinking, im going to repick a cheaper PCI card instead. again, HDD was rated high, thats why i picked it.

Vhfjr. what games do you want to play? if you have the money, i might spend a bit more then that but it depends again on what your playing. Also do you need keyboard, monitor, mouse?
 
Umm its a little on the low end of things, but honestly if you can find the right deals and are patient enough you might be able to get some good deals. I only will end up spending 750 on 4 gigs of OCZ DDR3 ram,AMD Phenom II 3.4 quad core Black Edition, 500 Seagate HD,Ati Radeon HD 5770 made by sapphire, Antec Nine Hundred two case, OCZ 700w modular Power Supply, and an ASUS MoBo...so if your able to wait it might be worth it to buy the parts over a bit of time.
 
Oh ok cool, yeah I was just curious cause I am kinda out of the loop on whats good these days, ya know? brand always improving or sucking haha!
