New computer build for first time builder

Hi there. New user here shamelessly looking to milk the wisdom of the forum already. I'm looking for some opinions on the specification I have drawn up to build a new PC, bearing in mind this is my first time (my previous two computers have been custom build, just not me who has built them!).

I have a budget of £800 (UK sterling), and am looking at building a decent machine capable of handling a variety of tasks including most games out at the moment. Primarily I need to know if there are any glaring errors, mainly incompatible parts, or if I'm paying for features I may not need.

Do you need two optical drives? Socket 775 is dead BTW, yes everything is compatible, good choice with the HSF, are you OC'ing? Personally I can't tell the difference between Mobo Sound and a cheap sound card. PSU is reputable-make, why do you have an 80GB and a 500GB mechanical drive? I'm in the same situation as you, only I have experience building PC's, and my budget is less. For you, I would go with an i3/AMD Athlon quad-core

Probably don't need two optical drives. Guess I'm used to old situations where constant use of writer drives as regular drives seemed to burn them out pretty quickly.

Not planning any OCing at the moment but you never know. ;-)

Also have always used sound cards, again perhaps haven't caught up with times and that motherboards aren't to bad with on-board.

The HDD choices are stupid. Am I better just getting a big one? I kind of fancy the security of having two separate ones takes my fancy, but SSD still prices me out a little.

Why's socket 775 dead? And what is HSF? Excuse my confusion. ;-)

Don't get LGA775.
That sound card is low end, not recommend. And with S220, you don't need a sound card.
What do you need 80GB for? Just make partition of 500GB for your c drive
I haven't seen 5770 512MB before...
If you don't plan for Ocing, don't get aftermarket heatsink. The one come with CPU is enough.
Make sure Windows 7 is 64bit
What do you need HDD enclosure for? You could just buy an external HDD...
Case - Bottom mounted is better for exhaunting hot air

The HDD enclosure is for exisitng hard drives and thinking about backups.

I'll scrap the sound card.

Windows 7 is 64-bit. ;-) Made sure of that one!

Still in the conundrum, is it worth getting two separate HDDs at all? I would like SSD as a boot drive but it's a little too pricey. One drive for booting, Windows install, etc and one for data. Thoughts?
