New computer for MMO games

I'm looking to buy a new computer (Laptop?) to replace my ASUS G75 that's almost five years old. I play WOW, D3, Eve Online, and occasionally some other random game.

I realize the games I listed aren't exactly graphics intensive but I want to be able to play them at max settings just to future proof for expansions. I would be happy if it plays other games on medium settings. I'm also looking for a quality computer with a decent screen that with care will last four years or so.

Now if I had an unlimited budget I wouldn't even have a question. My problem is I'm on a 1200-1400 USD budget. I've looked a little bit on Newegg and found a few possibilities but not sure if they're good for what I need.

Is what I'm asking for possible in a laptop on my budget or should I try to build or buy a desktop?

Well, desktops are my preference. Are you just gonna be gaming at home?

For the most part I play at home. On an occasion I'll game at a friend's house. If I go with a desktop I was thinking something that's not huge but obviously not one of those micro designs.
