New Computer (for real this time)

Okay, I'm planning this build for around Christmas and just wanted to get started early so I can learn of any improvements technology wise or any other useful tidbits of information. This list is pretty tentative as of now. The only thing I am in need of now is a power supply.

I would like to spend around 2000 dollars here so its not too expensive. I might be above that limit now, I haven't tallied the total price, but like I said this is tentative. I also would like to get the most bang for my buck in every aspect of the system. I think I could cut off dollars and cents from certain aspects but I don't know where to start. Critique my choices please and let me know what you think.

It is the cheapest 8800GTX in newegg and it have higher clocks than the other 8800GTX

Hmm I like your suggestion on the motherboard, however I would like to keep my SLI options open. My main reason for picking that motherboard was because I heard it was a strong performer games wise and it overclocked well. I think the hard drive selection is interesting too. I might swap that out if its as good as people say it is.
 
The mobo that I suggested is very good for overclocking.

And SLI in my opinion is a waste of money. One 8800GTX is currently more than enough, and when newer video cards comes out next year you can sell your video card and then upgrade to newer one

Okay I updated the list to include the suggestions that Maroon put in, I thought the 8800GTX would last me longer than one GTS and with all the money I saved on the motherboard and replacing the HD's, I ended up saving 50 bucks. Should I mess with the case and try and find a cheaper one or should I just stay with the 900? Also with the included power supply my total without shipping is about 1860 USD.
 
save 100 bucks and get the system builders Vista

you can either save that 100, or i would take it and get a 22" monitor instead of the 19, or drop down to a 17" and get two of em
 
If your going to wait until Christmas, everything will change before then. The new Pci-e slot is coming out, version 2.0, Newer faster DDR3 ram will be out, New video cards capable of using the newer version of PCI express will be out, New CPU's will be out. All of that will drop the current prices for this generation of parts down considerably, and for that $2000 you can and will be able to get much faster parts than you can right now.

So planning a build that your going to buy in a few months is kind of a waste of time. Start looking at what is out when your actually going to buy it.
 
Saving 100 bucks does sound like a nice thing, but what specifically is the system builders vista? I looked it up on newegg and I guess it just comes OEM. Is that a bad thing? Are all the manuals that would come with a regular copy of Vista be needed? That is an interesting suggestion.
 
what manuals do you need for vista "insert disk, install" thats all it is for, system builders is just meant to go onto a fresh hdd, not a upgrade or anything so its sold to system builders
 
Oh, I was just making sure I didn't need anything that came with the retail version. And I think I'll stick with the 19' widescreen monitor, as this computer will be resting on a desk in my dorm room for the most part. So I am kinda cramped space wise.

Would this case be a nice replacement for the 900? I know it probably won't move as much air as the 200mm exhaust fan of the 900 and its 120 mm fans are nice as well, but from what the reviewers on Newegg have been saying the Centurian is a solid case..and its almost 100 dollars cheaper, what do you all think?
