Ok so i just bought a old computer from my friend. it was only $30 so i cant complain about anything, but its definitely not crap.

it's a medion m3 director 5000

i searched up the name and couldnt find a straight up link to it. but it has;
Intel Pentium 4 Processor 3.0 GHz
512 mb RAM
160 GB 7,200 RPM harddrive
GeForce FX 5200 graphics card

thats all i know for sure and im wanting to put more RAM and upgrade the graphics card. but idk what graphics card type fits in here. could someone give me a graphics card that works with my rig and possibly a ram upgrade. im wanting most beneficial piece at a bargain. So more RAM and new graphics card....then i can hatch my diabolical plans >:]

also, im pretty sure it runs the old ram of only ddr so if you could find me a nice motherboard compatible with the pentium 4 that runs ddr2 id be mucho happy!

thanks

I say you wasted the 30 bucks and should have just bought your own parts. If you are wanting to upgrade the motherboard, chances are you will need a new case as the case wires probably won't match up to the motherboard, you'll need new memory, new processor and you said you wanted a new video card.

you will need to get a new comp,

Definitely a good buy for a basic computer, but you may want to reconsider
upgrading, because it uses old components and they're getting expensive.

You may want to consider leaving it as it is and using it for basic web browsing
and email, because you won't be gaming on high settings with this machine.

If I was to upgrade, I would do as you suggested and upgrade the RAM but I wouldn't bother upgrading the graphics card, because any card that goes in that slot will not be much of an upgrade anyway.
