What kind of video do you have? Is it intregrated or do you have a video card? Either way, make sure that the cables from the monitor are hooked up to the proper video hook connectors. And the reason that the hard drive light is not blinking could be that you didn't hook up the plugs right :) happens to a lot of people the first time.

Oh, also, the RAM configuration might not be right. For example, if you have the dual channel messed up, then the comp won't boot. That's what happened to me.

It's almost certain you have something that isn't connected right. Try removing the add on video card see if that makes a differnce. Double and triple check your connections again. Even having the power or reset buttons on the front panel connected wrong will keep a system from booting. You may even want to run it down to a local trusted non big box store and have them double check it for you.

You didn't say if you were getting any beeps at start u. Are you and do you have the mobo speaker installed? If everything is connected correctly and you don't have beep codes I'd be looking at the CPU (possibly the mobo).

As for your RAM you can't install it wrong on your mobo you only have 2 RAM slots and a modern motherboard. Sometimes if you have 4 RAM slots 2 slots are paired and when installing RAM in thoses systems it has to be installed in a certain config but that's pretty old school and I haven't seen that on any modern computers.

I will hook up the speaker to the mother board and i am starting to think it is the ram thats doing i have a generic brand with no lable idetifying what brand, just the specs.

It could be any of those formentioned above, or it could be dead ram, CPU or motherboard. I doubt anything is wrong with the video card has there's no hard drive activity.

Boot it with the minimum components:

- PSU
- Motherboard
- CPU + heatsink
- 1 stick of ram
- Video card (If there is no integrated graphics)

If it doesn't POST, take out the stick of ram, and try with another stick.

You can also test it without the video card - if there is a motherboard
speaker. It will beep if it POSTS - so you won't have to check visually
on the monitor if it did.

never heard of that province! lol

lol :P

yes both power hook ups are in!

Both? You should have more than 2:

2 x cables to the motherboard: one 20 or 24 pin, one 4 or 8 pin.

1 per hard drive

1 per cd/dvd drive

1 or 2 per video card depending on what video card(s) you have. The card(s) may not have dedicated power inputs, but just about all newer cards from within the last couple of years have what is called a pci-e power supply.
