i just bought all the parts to make my new computer, but when i put them all together all it does is beep as soon as you turn it on and the monitor wont respond.
ps im sure the monitor and the power is working
Please help

That beep. It means that there is a problem. I am pretty sure that most likely means its the ram. Make sure it is put in the correct slot. Is the correct kind. And is pushed in all the way, correctly.

im sure i got the right memory and its new, but i was think that because the RAM led on the motherboard lights up when ever i turn on the computer.
could this also be the reason i dont see a display?

1. What are the parts in question?
2. What beeps? Mobo? Video? Something else?
3. Did you connect the ATX12?

rosewill pc3200 512mb
gigabyte k8ns ultra 939

the motherboard is beeping and the ram led lights up

yes i connected both the power connections

and i already tried other working videocards and none of them worked

I really don't know what beeping means. Except that ram thing. Are you sure you put the video card in right? What kind of video card is it? And are you sure that the ram is in the right slot all the way.

rosewill pc3200 512mb
gigabyte k8ns ultra 939
amd athlon 64 3200+(stock heatsink and fan)
ati radeon 9200 se
psu 450W
maxtor (diamond max plus 9)120gb
im sure i put th videocard and the memory in all the way
and would putting a heatspreader on the memory have effected it.

i managed to take it off the heatspreader and the problem persist.
and what do you mean by psu rails

Whoa that wasnt neccesary.

and what do you mean by psu rails
Your PSU has a bunch of cables coming out of it (usually 3-4 other than the special ones). Do you have say, 15 harddrives on one of them? That would be undue stress

ohh no i did have three fans on one but i took them off and the problem was still there.
and i was afraid that i had done something wrong or maybe damage the memory thats why i took it off. also do you think it could be that i got defective memory ?( i dont have any other memory to test)

They say memory is sensitive and can by fried easily. Were you running around in wool appearal on shag carpet while putting together your computer?

i was wallking on carpet but with rubber soles if that makes any differnce and no i wasnt wearing any wool just tshirt and jeans

I was just exagerating. I really don't think most computer parts are quite as sensitive as they are made out to be. Just did you touch a metal thing before you started.

i think the memory is the reason that there is no display and without the display i cant get to bios. also i dont think it would let me anyways because if i leave the computer on beeping gets a little faster and wont stop until you turn off the computer. and i cant use memtest86 because i cant boot up and memtest86 is a windows application isnt it?
