New computer

So my roommate just bought a new acer computer from tigerdirect and I am trying to help him get it up and running. He bought a different power supply and had to buy a vid card. So we got everything into the case and now we are tying to boot it up. It came with vista already installed. So when we turn it on, the mobo startup comes on the screen, then all of the mobo and comp info scrolls by the screen but then right after all the info is displayed, the screen goes black then says no signal. We cannot get the computer to start vista, so we cannot install any of the mobo or video card drivers. Does anyone have any suggestions? We tried booting from the recovery disk and after it starts the recovery process, the screen goes black and the no signal appears again. Here is the link to the computer he bought: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883103152

Do you have the monitor plugged into the video card or into the onboard graphics port? If your using the video card, trying moving the computer to the on board graphics port and booting from there.

Yes, plug in to Mobo, set BIOS to use onboard video adapter.
Boot to Windows, download and install updated drivers for "new" video card.
Re-boot into BIOS, change video to Auto/PCIe??? and restart.
