New Computer?

I had a thread about a month ago about a new computer I wanted to build, but half of the computer was bundles and they expired, and I don't know what they were. I want to build a computer to replace my current one as it is outdated.

Current Build:

Intel Pentium 4 651
Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT
P4M900-M7 FE

I plan on using this computer to: Browse the web, use programs like Photoshop and Flash Professional (Possibly), and play somewhat new games like Borderlands, TF2, HL: DM, and Fallout: NV.

Here's what I've found so far, feel free to change anything you see fit, and please avoid bundles as I don't know when I will be buying this computer.

HD - I need a Terabyte.

DVD-R + Blu-Ray player - I want to have the ability to play Blu-Rays

MoBo - I think this seems decent but I don't know much :D

PSU - (I hope to replace this with something cheaper)

Fan - A fan is a fan, doesn't have to be anything fancy.

I still need memory as the one I was going to get is out of stock.

Still need a processor and a case.

My price range is about $300-400 US, please try to replace these with cheaper alternatives?

btw don't only check the socket cuz that one doesn't support bulldozer, you have to check the compatibility too, in the specs section there is a list of supported cpu's and no fx's on there so no bulldozer unless they update bios which might not work or happen.

unless extreme overclocking there is no need for an after market fan, and bulldozer is the next gen amd cpu which is made in the am3+ socket, all others are am3 but work in the 3+, bulldozer is also the first 8 core but relly is more like 6 since it's sets called modules containing 2 cores, but truly it's more like 1.5 cores, it's similar to sandy bridge with their extra threads, but amd threw in a few of the actual parts of the cpu in there too, making it like a better sandy bridge.

Basically its AMDs answer to Intels Hyperthreading.

Intel, 4 cores with 8 threads with Hyperthreading. One core 2 threads.

AMD, 4 modules with 8 cores doing 8 threads. Each module has 80% of the performance of what would be two full Zambezi cores. Using a module with 2 cores, it only has something like 13% more die space then a single core. Big bang for the small amount of die space it takes up.

All in all, will the $500 computer serve all my needs when I play TF2, and will there be any lag? (Because I know that it's not a graphically straining game.) Are there any places I can reduce the price of the computer to save money but lose barely any performance?

you could disassemble an old comp and put the new parts in its old case. as long as the old case is the right size that is, it will be matx case so check

Nope, I don't have an extra case and the one I have now is breaking so I guess I have to just get the comp built up there. It is a little out of my budget but I guess that still means it will last longer. :D

what do you mean built up there, you aren't building it yourself? paying someone else to is pointless, it isn't hard at all and doesn't take much time, do it yourself and save the cash for a better part or something.

SSD's are nice but they are still a luxury (barely though... everyone should have one if you can afford it!)

If you want to drop the price some more, swap the 5770 for a 5670 and get a lower-end PSU... Not a crappy one though. A Corsair VX430 would do. 990FX board as well if you want.
