no thats not a good deal. u have a low end graphics card and only an 80gb hard drive. if u can custom build ur computer, u will get more for ur money. but i guess its ok because it includes a monitor and speakers and stuff.

i think hes trying to say that you can get a lot bettter stuff for that money if you can build your own.. =] hehe and he said he guess its okay =] but i recomend you to get bigger hd =] and probably just get the video card separately =]

well, being that im not a computer savy type, i assume you mean buy each peice sepperate and assemble it myself? or use a website to put everything i want on it for their price(which is what i did).

Im looking at it now, i gave it a 200gb hardrive for $26 more

oopss.... forgot the video card, ive looked places and it appears atleast to be more expensive in-store than to buy one with the computer

-.- it stil remains unexplained what you mean by build it, do you mean construct it yourself?
If i did that(or tried) i would probably explode the whole thing, im not a computer guy =/

by building it urself we mean by the pieces and put it 2gether. build a comp on newegg.com for 1200 dollars and post it and we ill tell u wats better.

where do i build it? just collect a list of prices or is there a place i can go so its all "organized" for me to choose from

ahhh.. too lazy to find some sites for u here a quick explanation..

you get the pieces yourself, cpu, mobo, case,hd,rams, etc etc then you hook them up together! simple. eh? jus like baking a cake =]

hm....everytime i try searching for ANYTHING is says it finds nothing to match my criteria....

ill try tomarrow when im not tired...

Well, now that Im awake, ive determined more detailed aspects of my hopefully new computer, now that i realize exactly how much i have, it would be nice to spend less than 1000 on it now, and it has a better video card and now a 200 gb hardrive

EDIT: Oh! It also has an LCD monitor now

EDIT#2: And im not sure oh what video card to get, i want to be able to play games like Eve-Online and WoW, but also things like counter strike and such

You would probably be satisfied with a 6600GT for now, but you also might want a 6800GT for newer games. Once you are done finding all the parts, post it on here so we can make some suggestions,

parts as in, parts with me buidling myself or a website that allows you to customize it?

if i build myself, im afraid i might break something... :(

they're talking about going to a good, reliable website that sells computer parts, such as http://www.newegg.com/, and posting the link for each of the parts here so that they can tell you whether or not everything is compatilble and if everything will be good. everyone here will agree that going to website and "customizing" it is not a good deal in a sense that you'll be paying way more than what you would be if you built the same computer yourself.

here's an example:

http://computerforum.com/showthread.php?t=29730

keep in mind, though, that the components listed in that thread are NOT all that's needed to have an operable pc.

to learn more about building your own pc, read some of the "101" stickies at the top of all the subforums, namely http://computerforum.com/showthread.php?t=16363

good luck man, and in my opinion, even if you don't think you could build your own pc now, i would wait until you could because trust me.. you're not going to get nearly as much from a dealer such as dell, alienware, etc. than you could from building your own pc....

heh, i read it, and it sounds simple....ish, and im still worried, the only problem i have now, is this

Quality of me assebling vs Quality of store assembly/prefabricated

im gonna need a bigger scale

Relax its easy. The way i learned how to build a computer is just "jump" in and build one. Its extremely easy, and if you are having problems post it on computer forum. Dont worry, its fun and you will have a fun experience that you can use later in life. If you print out the "101" and follow each step in building it you will no problems.
