Hi i'm new to this forum i'm hoping you guys can help me. I am wanting to build a PC and I have narrowed my search down to two CPUs and I'm not sure which one to choose:
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego or
Intel Pentium® 4 D 805

I know that the intel is a dual core but on www.microdirect.co.uk ( where i am going to buy my parts from ) there is hardly any difference in the price. The actual use for PC i am hoping to build is for occasionally gaming and doing homework.

Do any of you other guys have any opinions?

Would there be any other processors from www.microdirect.co.uk around the same price range that would perform better. If possible i would not like to spend more than £65.

you might want to have a look into A2M CPU's instead of s939 ;)

Well, to my knowledge, a 3800+ (Oreleans? The highest singlecore AM2 A64) is out preformed by the 3700+ San Deigo. I'm not 100%, but I'll check up on it now...

EDIT: Nevermind that, I was thinking of the 3500+, the 37 beats that.... But (depending on the bench) some 939 just outprefrom the am2's by like 2 or 3 points... For example, on the same FEAR bench, the 3800 939 (core? dunno) beats the AM2 3800 by 4...

I think i am gonna go for teh AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego core CPU. I am gonna stick with s939 cos i'm on quite a tight budget and i can get more for my money than an am2 socket processor. thanks for the help the cpu charts helped me out the most.
