The Pentium D is ok, it's not going to be top of the line obviously, but it sill should work just fine... As for RAM I like the Corsair XMS series the best, but Crucial and Mushkin are god alternatives...

For that inexpensive of a computer, I would recommend you sticking with AMD. While Pentium D processors are great for everyday usage and multitasking, they aren't the best gaming processors compared to the AMD 64 X2 or 64 series.

errm also any one know how good a intel pentium d dual core 2.8 ghz and if it will be able to run some good game like battlefield 2

Processor Type PentD820 Dual Core
RAM Memory 1024MB
Hard Disk Capacity 160GB
CD/DVD Drive Type DVDRW
Operating System MCE
Graphics Card gf7300 - up to 256

or

Processor Type Athlon 64 3500
RAM Memory 1024MB
Hard Disk Capacity 160GB
CD/DVD Drive Type DVDRW
Operating System MCE
Graphics Card gf7500

which one is better

would it be able to play the good games like battle field 2 on medium to high graphics those same with games like fear and such but the is the best computers i can find with good graphs and ram but i dunno about processor coz its only 2.8ghz and i was hoping 3.0ghz

Is there a video card called geforce 7500 ??

It will play new games form low to medium setting

The 7300 (specially GS and LE) are horrible video cards

See but i dunno because thats the best ones i can find for under 400 which i can buy instore and thats all the info i can get from the website

I would probably go with the Intel Processor in this case, given the above option. What's the price difference between those two boxes?

Have you checked www.Gaming-PCs.com? They have some pretty good deals, and despite what they have on the site, they can customize the PCs to what you want.

nice to see such a consensus of opinion on this one...seems pretty divided...

however for the budget range you are in then i really can't see past an AMD, i wouldnt consider the Pentium D line to be fair.

But your budget is really restricting what you going to be able to do. The AMD build you have listed might be the better bet and then look at keeping the surplus money and saving a little more to improve the gfx card.

I have seen a system on ebuyer for aroun £340 which is a dual core AMD but the gfx are fairly poor, again the option there would be to upgrade the gfx fairly soon on.

thats the one, integrated gfx means you wont be playing many high end games but with the £60 saved and then adding possibly a little more you could buy a decent gfx card to add to that and make it a fairly competant system :)

mostly the reason i want to buy these is for the ram and graphic and OS im not sure though because its just the ghz they seem low
