New cooler

Looking for a new cooler. my 6100 is maxing at 57c with prime95. I looked at the V6GT and Elite x6, along with some water cooling loops, but they're a little expensive and I heard they don't do much better than stock cooling. I've also looked at the TPC 812, but its a little pricey. Any other ideas?

Wanna spend around $50, but may go up to $70 or so.

Well, I have the 212+, which is basically the same thing, so I would want something a little different.

But now it seems like my chip just runs really hot compared to others.
 
Before you get another cooler you could try to see if you can lower the voltage for your OC an any way. Might not be able to but it is something that you could try.

For better coolers you will either need a bigger better tower cooler, or go liquid. Whoever told you that the pre built loops are not any better than stock cooling is wrong. It will not lower your ambient temps much if at all, but it will keep your load temps lower over a longer period of time.

Hmm thanks for the info. Right now I think I have a bad chip, because it is having voltage issues, even with a different motherboard. So I think I'll stick with my cooling setup now, and keep checking H70 prices, because that's what I had my eye on. And I'll replace my CPU with the new ones in the fall.

And, like I said, I had a bad chip so I cannot lower my voltage for the overclock.
 
Bummer that you got a bad one. Just one more piece about he H series. The H50 and H70 were the first ones to come out. H60 is a revision to the H50 and H80 is the same for the H70. If I remember right the major adjustments are in the CPU block. So if you do decide to go with an H series I would either go with an H60 or H80.
 
I thought the H70 and H80 are the same, just the H80 comes with fans, while I have some aftermarket, high cfm/static pressure fans that I would use.

H70 has a 38mm radiator compared to 25mm for the H60.
 
For me if you did go for the H series, the H70 or H80 would be the best choice then.
But thats just me :P

From what I've seen in a few benchmarks, outperforms D-14 and seems to be right in your price range :D

Also, just out of curiosity what "aftermarket, high cfm/static pressure fans" were you thinking of using? I'm thinking of getting some new fans myself.

Edit: Silly me >.< Didn't read your initial post thoroughly enough. I second those recommending the H70/H80 though. They're mighty sexy, have pretty good performance, and though it probably isn't an issue if you already have a 212+ installed, they don't interfere with your RAM.

For the money you'll spend on the watercooling loop, get an i5 platform and sell the AMD stuff. I know people call me a fanboy, but seriously, you're flogging a deadhorse with that setup. They're hot and slow those faildozers.

If however you want to persist, get a custom watercooling loop for your CPU. It'll massively reduce heat and is easy to do.
