hey guys,

im after a new cpu cooler.

i currently have a Artic freezer 7 pro which is well,not as good as thought it would be.

i have two in mind

i was looking at this,i heard Asus make good coolers and this is about the right price

im a bit worried though with that one because theres quite a large northbridge heatsink next to my memory and cpu which i think might get in teh way?

hmm i cant seem to find that on Ebuyer,But i should think it will be a little pricy here in the Uk.

If i were you i would also take a look at the xigmatek S1283, The OCZ Vendetta 2, or the Kingwin RVT-12025(rebadged Xigmatek S1283 if you cant find the xigmatek), as its extremely close if not better than the Ultra Extreme 120 in most cases, I have my q9450@ 3.7 with it, and the temps are around ~60 load on cores 0/1, and ~50 on cores 2 and 3. Price is reasonable on it, its around $40 USD, not sure what the best sites are for buying in the UK so unfortunately i cant provide a link. There is also a bolt through mounting kit for it which i find works a little better than the intel stype pushpins, the mounting kit is around $7 usd.

looks just a bit taller that the AC7 pro?

i take it this would require some plates been fitted on the bottom of my motherboard right? are they supplied with it?
probably a stupid question but you know how OEM stuff is like these days,they done even give you cables sometimes lol
 
It's actually a fair bit taller than the AC7 Pro ;)

Yeah, it comes with a backing plate, which you can stick to the underside of the MOBO, then the screws go into the plate.
 
wow now ican realy see the full hight :eek:

well from what i can see through the side panel of my rig now i have about 4.5 - 5 cm space between the top of my AC7 pro and the side of the case.

i would have to get the full dimension of this before buying because my ram is extremely close to the cpu coolers fan as it is :D
 
wow i didnt know you got the fan controler and high performance paste with it.....thats cool.

i think danny i will be getting this,im going to have my tea now but after i measure my case ;)
