New CPU?

Hello,
I would like to ask a few questions about installing/buying the right CPU for my computer.
I am currently looking at this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115074

One of my many concerns is the socket type. I used CPU-Z and saw under package for my computer it said Socket 775 LGA. Im wondering if a) I'm looking at the right thing in CPU-Z. b) If it doesn't fit what would be my options. c) Would upgrading to this CPU from a Intel Pentium D 915, which has two cores and is 2.8 Ghz, really effect my computer ALL that much.

Thank you all very much for even reading my post.

you will not be able to upgrade to a 2400. That is not a 775 processor.

Second off, we need to know what motherboard you are running. It may be able to run better. Though, you may also be stuck on a 775 Pentium D.

You would need a new motherboard with that i5. The difference in performance depends a bit on what you're doing with it, and someone else will answer that better.
