hey i was wondering if anyone knows anything about the new dell xps 700 series. a few days ago i posted some new comp specs i found, and bacially this new dell xps 700 has everything that i wanted, plus its got the o so great dell support and warranty included. the base model which starts at $1990 heres the link http://www.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/cto_xpsdt_700?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

im just not sure abou the video card. this model comes with a 7900gs. from what i have researched its an underclocked 7900gt which is a great video card all around. everything else seems great with the computer, 700 watt psu, gig of ram, 250gb hd, sweet looking case, oh and it comes with a 20inch wide screen lcd. Basically i just want to know if this is a good buy.

Actually... no. if its a dell, the slap around 500 bucks on it cuz its got the dell logo. You could build the same for much less.

well suppose you have a dad, that has been persuaded by many people, including the head graphics guy on a film he is workin on, that he should not let his 17 yeard old put together a computer even if he does know what is goin on. Then, what do you think of this dell, does it compete with other premade computers in this same price range?

I would get, if you cant build your own, another company's premade gamer, with an AMD instead of the Intel...

yeh id like to get a amd, but right now, this new xps system comes with a sweet monitor thatd really be useful for drawing as well as gaming. then there was a good deal with a shuttle but no monitor. oh and alienware had somethin, but they jack dem prices up lol

You could get a company to build it for you and it would still be better then a dell. Like Ibuypower.com

Definately look into another company building the machine for you if for some reason your dad is strictly convinced that you can't do it yourself (even with the help of BUILDING COMPUTERS 101) or try and convince him to buy a machine from a local computer tech shop (they will order the parts and assemble it for you) and you'll still probably turn out with a better machine than the dell.

then you would tell those people f#&^ you dust because you can't doesn't mean i can't. then pummel them in the face and steal their wallets. if that doesn't persuade them, let your dad to live with the hundreds he has wasted. built my sig rig at the start of the year, i was and still am 14. it aint that hard.

yes my friend, i know its not that hard lol thats the frustrating thing. ive helped assemble numerous comps with my friends, heck sometimes i take apart mine and put it back together when im bored. to my dad its all about the "having everything under the same warranty" blah blah blah. everythin id get on newegg would have a warranty too lol. but thats to much for him lol, whatever i dont care.

but now i just have to find a good place, or im just gonna drive a few miles to PCW to make my dad happy or somethin. i looked at ibuypower.com but the cases are sooooo ugly. ha, im sure ill find somethin.
