I'm going to build a computer for about $500
No need for good graphics, even integrated would probably be fine
This will be used for work only. Would prefer a dual-core system.
I need at least 512 RAM, preferably 1 gig.
Please help

well if you are not going to want a great graphics card u should be able to get a resonable amd or p4 perhaps a 3.0 p4 with and a motherboard with onboard video ram and 512mb of good ram. oh and do u need a monitor in that price

what kind of work will you be doing? i assume you wont be doing any video editing since you dont have a need for a gpu, but if you are just gonna be doing like word processing and stuff, i would suggest just 512mb ram to keep the cost low.

we need you to tell us wat kind of work so we can see wat you need.. the cheapest dual core for AMD is $300+ and for intel is around $250 so you might not want that since it would take more than half your budget.

i dont think dual core would be extremely beneficial unless you have A LOT of multi threaded applications open at one time.

Thanks for all the replies.
@ Praetor: Sorry, was getting a little impatient
It is for business programs such as Word, Access, Lab Manager, Excel and such as well as everyday stuff like web surfing.
That sys sounds good, thanks

Ok in that case the system is more than sufficient .. you can put some more money into the PSU if you drop the DVD burner and get a case without a PSU.
