Hey guys! This past weekend I received an Intel P4 Processor 550 (3.4GHz, 800MHz FSB, 1 MB L2 Cache) and an Intel Desktop Board D915PBL. I got these items for free from a buddy of mine, so I want to put it to use. I don't have any other parts to build this desktop, but here's what I'm thinking...let me know if you have any input/suggestions. I appreciate any comments!!

Kingston ValueRAM 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 533 - $70
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820144152)
-what is a 'heatspreader'? It says it does not have one, not sure if that matters.

Western Digital Caviar SE WD1600JS 160GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - $53
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144415
-On the back of my motherboard box, it says 'Four SATA150 ports(1.5Gb/s). Is this hard drive compatible with my mobo?

XClio 450BL ATX 450W Power Supply 115/230 V UL, CUL, TUV, CB - Retail - $38
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817189003)

XION Solaris XON-404 Black with Blue LED Light Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - $60
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811208012)

I don't need a video card or anything right now. I'm just looking to get this computer up and running, and I'll add the good stuff later. I'm not looking to spend any more money than this, but I will if I absolutely have to. Thanks!!

No...I'm not going to get rid of the p4 and the mobo. That will stay. It's more than sufficient for what I need it for. I just wanted to make sure all the hardware I want to buy is compatible or if there are better options for the price.

That seems to be a good set-up, as for the heat spreaders, you can buy them cheap. Have you got enough in your budget for a dedicated graphics solution? Go for the WD2500KS though, it's got 250GB storage and a 16mb cache, no idea what the cache does though. :p

Do I necessarily need heat spreaders?? I honestly don't even know what they do. Also...i don't need 250 gigs of storage. I could never fill that up if I tried.
