I have a 2011 Sony MHC-EC709iP system, and I want to take out the original factory 80mm fan and swap it for a LED fan or silent-bearing fan, because the current fan can be heard over the speakers when I listen to music at night. An LED fan would be cool because it will give the stereo a cool glow at night! :D

I know that it's an 80mm fan. I measured it through the case. I haven't figured out how to remove the fan yet, so I don't know what power connecter it has. Can anyone tell me if it is a 3- or 4-pin connector? My Google searches have found nothing.

I want BLUE LEDS. And nobody has told me how to 1. get the stupid fan out of the stereo to begin with and 2. how many pins it has.

Not sure if trolling or not... But if you aren't you truly are "just a noob"...;)

sound is measured in dB and every decibel is 10x louder then the previous.

~60dB is like a conversation within a restaurant...

1. try to get it out... look for possible clips, pins and screws.

2. find out. look for the connector.

Remove screws. Open box. Remove fan... Have you ever worked on a PC before? It's the same idea. Once you do those steps, you'll find the answer to your second issue.

Coming from the guy who can't unplug a fan from a fan header from his PC, this task sounds similarly difficult for you.
 
I don't know what you expect us to do. We're computer people, not stereo people :cool:

I don't have your stereo in front of me. I can't tell you how to open it up and service it. You need to figure that out yourself or find a service manual somewhere.
 
What exactly do you expect from us? Magically open your stereo from where we are?

At least provide us with pictures if you want us to have a look at where to open your stereo. Secondly, all the help you'll get online has been given to you in the previous posts.

You really need to learn how to look for stuff instead of just waiting for someone to give you directions to everything you need to do.

Sorry, I guess that's the one VCR I didn't study in-depth and keep manuals of around the house.

It's a VCR, man... I can understand a little apprehension about opening a $600 computer as a newbie, but opening a -$20 VCR as "The VCR King" should be an everyday thing, no?
 
Do you ever finish projects? What happened to that $5 grab bag you were going to buy? What about that Windows 98 box? You seem to have these ideas and then just stop after a day or two.

Oops.. Typical me being distracted.. To be accurate, every 10dB would be ten times louder.. and so forth.. Meaning a rock concert at 140dB is 80x louder then a normal conversation at 60dB.. If I'm correct..

Most of the irony is that just a noob is one of our experts here. He was just goofing, and that, combined with you being a bit off, was ironic.
