After some time gaming through Laptop i finaly had it. So i have desided to build myself a gamer desktop. This will be my first "build on my own" computer, so i realy hope this forum can get me on the right track, concerning setups, fits, models and chip sets and so on. My main concerns building a computer is that i wanna be able to upgrade it (SLI, Memory, SSD, and so on) rather than replace the entire computer in 2 years and it should be able to play BF3 and Diablo 3 in almost maximum resolution.

Here is what i found myself:

Case: Fractal Design Define R3

Motherboard: ASUS P8Z68-V PRO

Processor: Core i5 I5-2500K 6 MB

Harddrive: Seagate Barracuda 7200 70

PSU: Corsair Enthusiast Series TX650 V2

Ram: Kingston HyperX 2 x 4Gb

GPU: MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC

Any ideas and suggestions are welcome, thank you in advance.

Everything there looks good to me. To overclock your CPU, then you will need a cooler for the CPU. The intel cooler is crap at even stock speeds.

almost every page came up with 404 not found for me, why not just all newegg links instead of all the different sites. and for the hdd look at the samsung spinpoint f3, it's supposed to be the fastest behind the wd caviar blacks. also look at the lian li cases, supposed to be the best quality. and also a lower end 6950 will do better than that gtx560ti, spending more on the same gpu doesn't get you much other than mayber 50-100 extra herts stock, but you can easily do that yourself in like 2 secs.

the 560ti has 384 5 way processor cores. The 6950 has 1408 1 way cores. So, take the 384 * 5 = 1920. The 560ti is faster and has more cores.

Care to tell me how you can explain that? Afterwards I will tell you what the real difference is. Its really simple.

I was told by our computer engenieering teacher that to compare AMD apple for apple with Nvidia, just multiply the Nvidia by 5. I assume him being a computer professional, that he would know what he's talking about.

so, based on that 384*5=1920. 1920>1401 is it not?

In a simple way. Nvidia is set up sorta like a multi core processor. Each processor can process any data and can use as many needed to get the job done. AMD are a hell of a lot smaller and set up blocks. Each one has 5 small processors. Each one is set up to process certain data.

Kinda like this. Comparing it to a dual core processor

Nvidia is just like a dual core. Either core can process any data sent to it.

ATI/AMD has a dual core. But each core has 5 small processors within it and each one can only process certain data. AMD is like 5 small processor within one.

ATI/AMD could have cleared up the confusion if they had named it different. Instead of saying 800 Stream Procesors. They could have said 160 blocks. But I guess 800 sounds better.

so, short story, since 160 modules * 5 is 800, and thats from the example you used, then the multiply by 5 would work to compare at Apples for Apples, right?

Yeah lol, in a weird sorta way it does. But Nvidia isnt a 5 way or multi by 5 to compare the two. The better way would be to say divide AMD by 5. Most games, if not all are setup up for the way nvidia does multithreading, if more were set up like AMD vector processoring. AMD would smoke Nvidia. Kinda like the way windows is doing to the module on the FX Zambezi

any of them will do fine. The 2GB one will do more because of more memory, but they all have the same cores and speed.

2gb is generally not needed for most games but I think that it would be worth it to go with the 2gb version. Just personal preference.

its called factory overclock, and you can do it yourself with MSI afterburner and save money. They all three have the 560ti core. It will do 950, no matter what the factory set it at.

GPU overclocking is really easy with the twon frozr cards. I would take the 2gb over the extra 70MHz on the core. You should be able to get within 20MHz of the HAWK model fairly easily.

EDIT: wolfeking beat me to it on both replies. Guess I am not fast enough :P
