Hi :]
My name is Danielle, I'm from florida, and I'm 18. Anyway, I love the Sims :o and I want to buy a new desktop so that when my preordered Sims 3 is delivered, I'll have a nice computer to play it on. (my laptop does a shitty job with my Sims 2)
This is what I'm thinking: I want just the tower so that I can hook it up to my nice flat screen on the wall and then i'll get a wireless keyboard and mouse. If I want a moniter I'll get one later, but most importantly I want a tower that's good for gaming.
What kind should I get?
I realize I don't need a really really top of the line one because I only play Sims, but I want one that will make the game flawless.
Thank you for reading :P

- Core 2 Duo E8400 (or Q6600 if you want quad-core)
- 4GB of RAM
- 9800GT (or even an HD4850)

That's my 2 cents as far as performance goes.

Thank you :]
I'll be sure to look for all that good stuff. Do you recommend a brand, or altleast a brand that would have all the specs i'm looking for?

You really don't need quad for the sims, a E6750 will do you just fine, even though it is only 2.66GHz and conroe.

4GB of RAM, 8800GT or 9800GT, both the same, 9800 just a little bit more efficient and gives out a little more power.

That should have you set.

Thank you :]

Processor: Intel
RAM: Corsair, Kingston or OCZ
Motherboard: Gigabyte or Asus
Video Card: Any but unbranded or Asus
Hard Drives: Any that are 7200RPM and 3GB/s retrieval or better

If you are buying your own, just look around,

www.newegg.com

is a site widely used on here by americans (they dont ship outside of US)

Thank you :]

Motherboard: Gigabyte, Asus, MSI....
CPU: Intel is the only option here...:)
RAM: Kingston, OCZ, Corsair, G.Skill, Geil...
Video Card: XFX, BFG, eVGA....
PSU: Antec, Corsair, Ultra, Cooler Master....
Hard drive: Seagate, Western Digital....
DVD Drive: LG, Samsung, Plextor....
Case: Antec, Cooler Master...

That's all I can brainstorm at the moment.

Wow. Thanks so much everyone. That helped a lot :]
I think this is a UK site and I didn't even realize it haha. Or there's just a lot more UK members than US...?
I just "asked" computer forum and this was the first one.

It's about half and half when it comes to US vs. UK members....

We're pretty helpful here, you just have to watch out for people that give you stupid or short answers. Those are pretty annoying.

Oh, and when I was looking at gaming computers a while ago, I came across this brand that looked really cool but I forget what it was called. It had something to do with an eagle...or a bird. And it was at the same level as like voodoo and alienware. Anyone know what I'm talking about and if they're good.

Yeah building one will teach you quit a bit.
Like others said look for an intel, maybe an p45 or p43 board and things like that.\
How much are you looking to spend?

Falcon!! Falcon northwest. That's the one I was looking at a while ago. Are they good? I love the look of their cases, and it looks like it's easy to customize the computer you want.

I don't think Falcon Northwest or whoever you're talking about has much of a reputation. Most custom gaming computer companies are way overpriced anyways. You're better off building your own at a way lower cost and you'll learn quite a bit as well. It's a win-win situation.

Falcon Northwest has a big reputation, just little publicity, and they are way too overpriced for what they are worth.
$500 is good to get you started on a gaming computer but if you are wanting a monitor as well, $500 won't go too far because most LCDs run over $100 which cuts into the actual PC budget a good chunk. For $500, don't go to the major computer makers because a $500 Dell or HP definitely won't have a decent graphics card in it.

Come on dude! Never heard of Falcon Northwest? A long story short, they are WAY overpriced just like alienware
