New Gaming and Video Editing PC Build

Hey guys. I'm in the research process of finding parts for a new computer build. It'll be my first desktop build. I want a powerful system that will last me a long time, but I want to spend the LEAST amount of money as possible on it. I don't have the money for it yet but hopefully I'll make enough over the summer. So, if you guys know of any upcoming pc parts that might be worthwile coming out in the next few months let me know.
I'll be doing a lot of video editing and some gaming (I want to be able to play games that are coming out in the next few years on good settings).
If there are any parts that you know are cheaper and will give me the same performace let me know, as well as any compatibility issues.
I'd like the total, including the monitor and windows 7, to be under 1000 dollars.
These are the parts so far:

Motherboard and PSU combo:

Processor:

Hard Drive:

Video Card:

Optical Drive:

Case:

Monitor:

And Windows 7 probably off of Amazon because I have 10$ off (so that's 90$)
Anyway, thanks in advance!!

Wait for the AMD bulldozer processor modules to be released in June. They are going to be amazing.

As for the motherboard, I may be wrong, but I do not think it allows SLI. So if you actually wanted to eventually buy a second graphics card for extra power you will have to invest in a better board. (I didn't see anywhere where it said it supported crossfire or SLI)

Your case is unnecessary for a budget build. Try one of these:

If you are doing video editing or gaming, you may want to invest in at least a 1600x900 resolution monitor.

Your PSU is overkill for your current build. A 750w will be more than enough. Stick with silverstone, corsair, pc power & cooling, or xfx, as those are the most reliable brands.

I agree. Advanced Micro Devices will be releasing their new Zambezi Processor line before June 30th. Look at their new quad-core microprocessors when they release them.

In addition you will want to purchase 4 gigabytes of DDR3 1866 RAM. I would not buy any parts until you are fully ready to purchase all parts to assemble the system you want.

Edit

Yeah, I forgot to post the memory that I'd chosen.
I also changed a few things. Here's my updated build:

Motherboard and PSU combo:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.646470

Processor:
Newegg.com - AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition Thuban 3.2GHz 6 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor HDT90ZFBGRBOX

Hard Drive:

Video Card:

Memory:
Newegg.com - G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL

Optical Drive:

Case:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811517010

Monitor:
Newegg.com - Hanns·G HZ201DPB Black 20" 5ms WideScreen LCD Monitor w/Speakers 250 cd/m2 X-Contrast 15,000:1 (1,000:1)

And about the PSU, I've had a few people tell me that I need a lot and others that have told me that 700/750 is plenty....anyone else have any input??
I know the case isn't necessary but I've been looking at it for quite a while and I mainly want it for the looks and tons of fans. So I'm probably not going to change that, it's just personal preference.

As mentioned, there will be new Tech and diff pricing by then.
If you decide to stick with AM3 at that time, at least get AM3+ mb so cpu is upgradable.
The 870 mb isn't ideal for crossfire, so the 850w is way much. Not promoting CF, just saying.
Right now, a Samsung F4/F3 are better than that model WDB. SSD boot size drive prices are falling.
If your going for the lastest in gaiming, bigger GPU.
You can get better RAM for not much more. (Suggest 2x4GB for your video editing).
Suggest fan controller for all those case fans.

In general, perhaps an x6 for video editing and more future ready. But the price diff is substancial, so might depend on the editing. The 965 would beat the 1090T in games right now.

Thanks for pointing that out. Because I really only do mild video editing but I'm hoping to get into more intense editing later on.....anyway, if it's better at gaming than the 1090T and it's way cheaper then I might just change to the 965......
But will the normal performance of the cpu be much worse than the 1090T??
I still want the normal applications and everything to run quickly and smoothly....

The Phenom II 1090T would have better multi-tasking capability over the Phenom II 965, but the Phenom II 965 would run games better as previously stated. In my opinion I would go with the Phenom II 965 since it is less expensive.

The Phenom II 965 will run normal programs well. My Phenom II 940 did. I would look at this motherboard over the one you are currently looking at:

GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3 Socket AM3 Motherboard - $80

Yeah, I think that's probably fine. If I keep trying to save money then I'll just keep going down the line of processors...so I'll stick with the 965. Thanks though.
What about the PSU?? Is it a good quality power supply?

He is right about the processor, save your self 20 bucks and go with the 955. They overclock the same.

Change the motherboard to a more updated chipset. If you like that Gigabyte get the 870 Chipset.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128485
or the AM3+ model. more upgradeable to the Zambezi

Case

or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112239

With the money you save on the case and processor you could get a 6950

Yeah, but I'm not going to be overclocking anything, most likely. So I'll stick with the 965. For now it's fine. And the case, I know it's expensive and there are a lot of better ones, but I've had my eye on this one for a while and I really like the design. It's really just a personal preference.
