New gaming build

Hello all.I have a friend that asked me to build him a very good gaming rig with a budget of around $2500 maybe a little less.He will need the OS,drives,hard drives,case,power supply,and video card,and fan controller.Some good quiet case fans would be nice.He would like it to last a few years.Thanks for any and all help. I was thinking about a I build,as that is what I have and I am very happy with it.

As the build is right now with 2 video cards it will be 2700 dollars before rebates so not too bad. after rebates it would be about 2600. if he wants to get a smaller ssd he can do that and that would bring the price down. let me know if I am missing something.

Thanks for the reply. He will need an os as well.I don't think he is into water cooling so just need a good cooler.But that looks like what I had in mind with out the ssd hard drive.He told me that he is not sure about ssd yet but to use what I thought was best for him and would last a long time.

ok cut the ssd and get windows 7 pro 64 bit. the h50 is a self sealed cpu loop that is very easy to install. he should DEFINITELY get that. everything else I recommended he should get for one epic rig!

why? there are air coolers that are better than the h50
 
I have a brand new Prolimatech Megahlems to give him.I use one and love it,I bought another one that was on sale and have no use for it as of right now so I will through that in with the build.The guy has no clue how to do any thing with a PC so it needs to be as easy as can be for him.But thanks for the advice on the water cooling set up.I have a complete w/c set up that I just have not had time to install on my rig and don't know if I will.It just takes to much time to set up and then you have to do maintain on it at least a few times a year or so.I all ready clean my rig every month and that takes a hour or so each time not sure I can give up any more time.I know he will not be able to do that kind of maintenance.

Analizers build is good,But id change the cpu to an i7 930,get a decent aftermarket cooler and overclock it to say 3.5-3.6Ghz.

Ditch the standard HDD and get a SSD drive such as the Samsung 64Gb or the Intel 80Gb SSD.

Also if you dont need the "Professional" version of 7 then why pay more?...Id just get Home Premium X64 bit. :)
 
Win7 Pro and Ultimate run most of the XP programs thats why I suggested it. In Home Premium there is no "XP Mode".

If you want to SSD instead of standard HDD, get G.Skill Falcon II- faster than Samsungs, Intels or OCZ Vertex :rolleyes:

this vertex is the one that I have. cheaper and faster then the falcon. I agree with you on windows 7 pro but I also suggested an ssd and the op said that his friend did not want one. I think the parts he chose are very good.

yeah give him the megahalem its slightly better than the h50 as long as he runs it in push pull

aah you didnt make that clear. the 128 definitely does beat the ocz vertex. but the vertex series are generally 60-80 dollars cheaper than the g. skill falcon 2 series from gb size to size.
