New Gaming Build Hlep

Ok, so I'm looking to build a new computer (never built my own before, but I'm competent enough with computers that I've taken my laptop apart, so putting it together and all should be relatively simple).

Looking to spend maybe $1500 (budget is a little flexible, lower is better, but isn't it always?)
Have OS/Keyboard/Mouse, but I'll need Monitor (Anything else I forgot to mention?)

I'd like to run anything current (games) on high to highest settings, and (hopefully) have at least enough life to do so for another year. I was also thinking about tinkering with overclocking, so non-standard heatsink good (*disclaimer that I am aware of the risks of OC if I'm not careful/don't follow directions*).

I was looking at something like the i7 930 which seems to be at a fairly good price/performance point and suggested in other topics. But really I'm fairly open to suggestions.

Only other thing I might note is that I'm close enough to a microcenter that I could purchase parts there if the price is better.

I don't have a full build for you, but I do know Microcenter has the i7 930 on sale for $199.99 at the moment. Saves you $90 on the egg price.

that paticular deal is for instore pickup only so if u cant get to a store it wont help.

Hrmmmm, do you happen to know how long that deal is running for (is it listed somewhere I didn't notice?). Wasn't really planning on building this till probably the end of the month/early next month.

As I said in OP, I am close enough to one that I could go (it's maybe a half hour drive at most).

I've talked to someone at MC about this. I don't think their price on the i7-930 is a 'sale'. I think it's just their price.

With your budget, this might be interesting as well, assuming you have access to a microcenter.
 
Da bump for great justice! And because I've got little clue what to look for in a mobo/graphics card.
 
If it is for gaming, you'll be needing a video card with good specs and a perfect flat screen monitor that can give you a nice view of your games. Of course having the latest processor and lots of RAM and space for your Hard disk would be more perfect.

EDIT3: Rebate is only good on the ram till the 10th though, so I might pick this up a bit sooner if you think it's good.

Also, anything against the PSU I picked in the first build? It's a bit cheaper (this isn't the main factor, but it's nice...) and seems to stack up very well in the reviews I found on it. Or would I need the extra 100W (I only plan on 2 video cards, possibly 2-3 drives in raid at some distant point in the future, though I have no idea what wattage I need for that).

I'll probably go with the 3rd monitor you suggested, and optical drive I totally forgout about, as well as the better MOBO (I wasn't really sure about that anyway). :P

Even if it's in my budget right now, not going to get a dual GPU yet, I'd rather buy it a few months down the line, since I don't think it will really be necessary right away (and I can probably wait to see if there is a price drop before I buy the second one).

I also already have a 60GB SSD I plan on using in the build (Not that anyone suggested it, just putting it out there).

EDIT: Also looking at an after-market cooler, though it might be overkill (or overly expensive, for that matter).

Nice specs, I on the other hand still prefers choosing separate parts for building a pc for gaming. Although you can save money in any combo, nothing beats the almost limitless possibilities of choosing the specs that you desire.
