Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ 2000MHz HT Socket 939 Dual Core Processor - $632
Mobo: ASUS A8N-SLI Premium ATX AMD Motherboard - $160
RAM: CORSAIR 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR550 (PC4400) - $300
Graphics Card: eVGA Geforce 7900GTX 512MB - $480
Sound Card: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic Sound Card - $91
Drives:

C: Western Digital Raptor X 150GB 10K RPM 3.5" Serial ATA150 Hard Drive - $334
D: Western Digital Caviar SE 250GB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - $83
E: NEC 16X DVD±R DVD Burner Black IDE/ATAPI Model - $36

PSU: Antec TRUEPOWERII TPII-550 550W Power Supply - $80
Case:any of these will be fine... (i'll say $70)

Approx: $2266

if u can't stretch that, then take out one of the harddrives... keep the Raptor if u want speed (loading timeand opening programs speed)
keep the 250GB if u want space...

great work on that encore

juss to tell u installing windows with a sata drive etc. horrible..its practically impossible unless you know what your doing and it gets real complicated..i recommend get one IDE..its simple but not as fast as the sata but it could boot up windows much easier

Well, the probelm with that is that it is 2270 dollars. If the guy is in a tight budget, I doubt he would be able to find 270 dollars off the ground.

he said 2200 not 2000. its 70 over budget. if your that tight cut back on a vid or sound card. get a 7800gtx. keep in mind you also need to buy XP and a monitor and a keyboard and mouse. if you dont have xp or any of this other stuff you can easily say +250 or more if you want an lcd

No offense, but you don't know what you're talking about....
Also, I'd change the motherboard. It's not a bad motherboard, but there are better ones for less money. Also, you could get the 4400+ and overclock 200mhz. That would be ~$200 bucks less. With that, you could probably get some 5.1 speakers + mouse + keyboard.

Also remember that the price will fluctuate depending on what case you get. Encore got $2270 assuming that your case would be $70. And instead of the Rapter X, I'd get 2 more 250GB drives and put them in RAID-5. That would cut the price back a lot too.
