New Gaming Laptop or Desktop?

Hey everybody I am new here on the forums and was in search of some help. Right now I am looking to get something for gaming and here is my situation:

-I have an HP m6-1035dx right now, but I want something that can handle more gaming and video editing because I was fooled by the graphics card advertising on this one (It said up to 3GB of vRAM but it only had 512mb)

-I am only 15 years old and have a part time job, but I only keep 40% of what I make for spending which comes up to $64 a month. Right now I have $250 that I can spend.

- I am also trying to save up for some other important things right now such as a car, and a new amp that is around $600.

Ok and now here are some of the things that I am considering doing:

1. Try to see if I can sell the cooling pad and laptop I have right now for $550 (Total it was $690). Then build a rig or get a much better laptop around $1000.

2. Or should I just wait about 1-2 more years when I have the money to get something a lot faster with all the new hardware and whatnot. I really don't want to wait that long though because I feel like I need a faster laptop.

Any suggestions are available! Thank you for your feedback!

Whoops. Just realized this category was meant for console gaming and software. I don't know how to move it. Sorry about that.

No it's for PC gaming too but you should only create one thread about a topic anyway. Desktop Computers is a better section for this thread too which is where the other one is.

I put this together for you. There ARE ways to knock that price down even more. I'll tell you the things I wouldn't compromise on, though.

The CPU, motherboard, and the power supply. The cpu is a great cpu for gaming, streaming, and editing and it is very overclockable if you're lucky and you get a good one.

The motherboard is excellent because of an 8+2 power phase as well quality parts. I own one myself and I love it.

The power supply is something not to skimp on. You need quality, since it's going to be pumping the power in to all your pretty parts.

Fastest things to do are to simply knock down the 16gb of ram to 8gb. That will be the first thing that will knock off the least performance. The next is, *gulp* knock off the ssd.

Finally, you can knock down the GPU. I'd save that option for last, though, as buying a good gpu is always an excellent choice.

Thank you very much toast! I just bookmarked that build, and am hoping to get it soon. I will hopefully have enough money by July, because I will have a summer job and get a bonus $200 for my birthday. I will probably get back to you guys then. Thanks again!

Like I said, that's pretty close to the best possible build. If you have a little extra, bump up the ram to 1866. I suggest G.Skill Ares. It's pretty good for playing around with. And then just follow the steps for if you have to bump the cost down at all.
