I wish to get a new computer as my old one is slower then most diseases, im a fairly intensive gamer, but I program, as well as render a good bit of 3d stuff, for game creation etc. I was just wondering if i could get a little help, in getting this computer.

For a start my budget is 2000 euro/$2800/£1500(Im euro so...). I found this on ebay, is it worth it?

I am also open to the idea of building a pc, I'd be wanting the best in gfx and a good lot of processing power to boot. I play all variety of games, and intend playing a game not out yet which is apparently one of the more Gfx intensive games known to man. Unfortunately it is an mmorpg, called Age of Conan, Im signed up for beta testing and wish, to have a lagless experience(hopefully). Once again the total I would pay for the rig components would be roughly 2000 euro, any suggestions would be duelly appreciated.
Just like to stress that the Gfx card would be very important.

The ebay offer is good, but ive never exactly been a fan of ebay so I cant really say :X

Anyways, do you have any preferred site or a desire to overclock? Also, do you need to os or a monitor?

In almost all scenarios it's cheaper to build one yourself.

However if you want better a better price/performance ratio...wait a month or so and wait until the 9800 series video cards, and Intels 45nm Quads.

Im clueless as regards overclocking so you tell me, I can tell you that i make alot of use of my comp, and commonly will have many programs runnning. I have a g5 mouse and a hd monitor but i do need a g12 keyboard, operative word being need.

seems like a decent seller pay with paypal though if the item doesnt show, make him an offer for 1950 so it comes out to an even 2000 euros with shipping

Well, I was just wondering if you were overclocking because I wasn't sure whether to include a HSF in there :X

Ill try my hand at this and post a list soon.

Shipping aint a problem, the seller is in Waterford, i live in cork, i dunno if your familiar with irish geography, but he lives bout a 75 minute drive away from me.

Can reduce that a bit if you dont want as big of a hard drive.

With the extra money, you could go for an expensive quad core, a 3rd graphics card, another harddrive, etc :P If you add another video card, go for a 1100w power supply

Its not that quad core is useless, its just that most things aren't programmed to properly make use of all of the cores. Ask someone else on the forum whos used both to see if they've seen a huge difference by switching to quad core.

With gaming people might see better FPS in dual cores than Quads, as stated above, most games are only coded to support 2 cores. I know only one game currently quad-supported, HL2.

well i'll be getting it in August of this year. so if someone is suggesting a setup, it'd be sweet if they could include shtuff not out yet...

I think Crysis and Gearos of War are as well...however I may be wrong.

Only things I can think of that have been publicized are the Nvidia 9 series cards, but nobody has any pricing on those really, and then the Yorkfield intel processors.
