hey all, i recently bought a 3870x2 1gb without putting enough though it :/

I though i was getting a great deal due to a site called hwcompare that suggested it was extremely fast...its not.

Its a huge POS, that has given me nothing but greif :@

Anyway what the cheapest i can spend to get something better than this?

i play games on it so it has to be orientated towards gaming.

i dont have a budget in mind im looking for the absolute minimum amount to spend to one up this cruddy card.

doesnt need to be dx11, would definately like dx10 though.

I game at 1366x768 resolution and would like to play most games on highest details.

So whats the least i can spend.

oh and must be UK

EDIT: I dont mind buying used either

hat sort of performance are we talking with them 2?

I would use hwcompare but since it F'd me over last time im a bit skeptic to say the least.

Say playing crysis 2 at 1366x768, what sorta settings could i get it too?

At the moment my 3870x2 has it on gamer which is lowest (not been patched so has no advance settings )

Lmao this is rediculous, i payed £70 for the 3870x2 second hand from cex and find out i could have got a new, better card for less brand new :P FML

Geuss ill have to learn from my mistake and sell it back to them for half the price i payed.

:/

How much better (if that makes sense) is the 6770 in terms of the 6670?

Is it worth the extra £20+?

or should i just settle for the 6670 and upgrade in the future (after i overhaul the rest of my rig :P)

EDIT due to double post: Is the gtx 260 better than the ATI's listed?

They go on ebay for £50-60 all the time?

Or a GTX 275 on cex for £75?

I think im gunan grab a used 4890 :d
Thanks for the help Jonny

Soon as i get this sold, i may actually be able to play modern warfare 2 without stutter

might as well just buy a used 8/9800 gtx. pretty sure it out performs the 6670. You can probably pick up a 8800gtx for like 40$

Man, you like these older generation cards. A 4890 gets on average 5/8 frames better then a 4870. The 3870 X2 is somewhere between a 4850 and 4870. Thats not a huge jump from a 3870 X2 to a 4890.

I like the old gen cards because I run 2 9800's.... and haven't had any problem running 1920x1200 on any game. AA/AF on the other hand is a different story. Feel like the older cards are great if your on a real tight budget. You can pick them up so cheap on ebay now adays.

Ahh no way, im getting confused with all these benchmarks, most are saying my 3870x2 sucks, some not :/

i think im gunna save up and go for a 6850 or gtx 460, i was looking last night and it would only mean a couple more week of waiting/ saving up

And about likeing older gen cards, its mostly due to their prices :P, theres some deals to be had on ebay

A 6870 or gtx 460 will rinse through all you need at that res, I game at the same res and I have a gtx 260 core 216 I picked up from aastii and the only thing it struggles with is the always unoptimized crysis, it handles everything like metro 2033, BFBC2 etc on max, BFBC2 even with full af and x16 AA.

Im on a stuck budget of £85 now, thats literally the max.

Would a gtx 275 be any good or would the 6770 still be the better option?

Only just noticed youve sigged me :P, i feel special haha

EDIT: Would a gts 450 be worth considering?

Just so you know, I upgraded from a 3870 to a 4850 to a 5770. So I'd say get a 5770 or 6870 for cheap.
