Okay i'm looking for a new graphics card which I can use to play the most demanding games over the next couple of years.
I'm looking to spend about £150-£200 as a rough guess at prices.
My system is:
Intel Core 2 quad processor Q9400 (2.66Ghz, 1333Mhz FSB, 6MB L2 cache.
(not sure what else you need to know)
My current graphics card is a 1GB ATI Radeon 3870 X2 (which has just died)

I was looking at the asus eah6850 use the radeon chipset hd 6850 1gb,
shown here:

What do you think?
Or have you any other suggestions or advice?
Thanks in advance,
Tom

(p.s. Sorry about the vague and poor thread name, I can't change it now i've posted it).

This many sound stupid, but I can't currently get to the computer to check and my documents don't tell me.
But it is a Dell XPS 420, purchased in september 2008.
I think the power supply might be about 375W-425W
And I'm afraid i'm not particulary clued up on power supplies.

You have a stock 375 watt psu from dell.
Dell psu are not high quality and it states clearly on the website for 3870x2 you need at least a 550 watt psu, i am surprised it worked at all and even more surprised it it was stable.
The psu could have been what eventually caused the 3870x2 to break.
I would recommend a new psu as well as gpu.

Good psu are not cheap unfortunatly. to run any of the hd69xx series you'll need at least 550 watt.

69.89 quid.

Its 650 watt but it is always good to have a bit of headroom.
you can drop the price a bit and get a slightly cheaper psu from corsair or the likes but i choose this because it is on offer, but you cant go too cheap with psu's as you could permanently damage your whole system with poorly built units.
If you see any unit you like before you buy post a link here so we can check it out.

brands like corsiar, antec, seasonic, xfx, ocz are good (first three being really good)
