I have no idea where to go or what to look at when upgrading my video card. I currently have a AMD Radeon HD 6450 in there, its a stock Dell XPS 8300. I dont know what size the power supply is but I know I have 8g of ram and an Intel Core i5-2320 CPU @3.00GHz. Please help fast need to upgrade soon, tired of playing on low settings and still having framerate issues

You'll likely need a new PSU too but it's difficult to recommend you anything until you tell us what your budget is.

Well, what games are you playing? If ur playing some pretty hard stuff, I would recommend an nvidia 760 for 250 bucks. But them u would probably need at least a 400w PSU

The 6450 is, basically/bluntly, slow as crap.

Take a look on the power supply sticker and see what kind of wattage it states. Also, you could post a picture of it and we could guide you.

as for what games I play. I play Civ 5, Rift, Diablo III, Firefall, Defiance, Warframe, WoW. As for budget I would like to stay at the 100$ range have a family of 5 to support on a single income.

If you have $100 to spend on just the GPU you can get a GTX 750 or an R7 260X.

But you will need a new PSU and the Corsair CX430 is about $40-50 or so, so it's not really worth spending the remaining $50 or so on a GPU because you won't see much of a difference and you'll end up wanting to upgrade again.

Like Spirit said, you won't be satisfied trying to upgrade your PC for $100.
If you can just wait and try to save up a bit more money than you could get some very noticeable improvements.

Have a look at this card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487027&cm_re=gtx_750-_-14-487-027-_-Product

Here is a review that someone posted about it:
Pros: Very high quality video card, it allows me to play games like the Elder Scrolls Online and the Witcher 2 on ultra-high video settings. It's very quiet and newver overheats, even after 5+ hours of non-stop use. And the price for this card is unbeatable

Cons: Mislabeled power requirements, so when I got it, I had to upgrade my power supply as well. It needs 400W or more.

This power supply is $35 and would probably work just fine: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...R&cm_re=Corsair_CX430-_-17-139-026R-_-Product

Good luck!

I just found another review where the customer is running the EVGA 750 card on a 300w power supply... maybe you want to roll the dice and try it out?

Here is his review:

This card runs is very quiet, much quieter than my CPU fan at 50% (I don't hear it). At 55 watts maximum, I didn't need to upgrade my 300 watt PS. I got this instead of the 750 ti because I don't need the extra CUDA cores (not using Photoshop, or Roxio, Nero, etc.) and only needed 1GB of memory instead of 2GB since I don't game much (the extra memory would only seem to help when playing games at higher resolutions). Maybe I could have purchase the overclocked version, but I mostly watch videos (YouTube, Comedy Central, etc.) and this improved the image quality a lot, especially in full screen mode compared to my onboard HD4200 graphics, though these drivers seem to need some extra time to improve the image quality sometimes, like when starting to watch videos at full screen (1400x900) on Comedy Central for example.
