new hard drive help

Ok so I just put a new hard drive in my comp... it shows up in setup and shows up in device manager, but doesn't show up in my computer. in device manager it says everything is working fine. where do i go to format the drive (i'm assuming thats the reason i can't see it in my computer but i'm not sure)

any ideas would be great... thanks
 
If the hard drive shows up in device management, you can format it from there by right clicking on the drive and selecting format.
 
Right-click on My Computer and go to "Manage". In the window that comes up click Disk Management in the left pane. Once it loads, you should see an "Initialize Disk" wizard pop up. Partition and format the disk whichever way you fancy.
 
Most users would not choose that option as it can lead to problems. I personally would not, and would stay with standard partitioning.
