New Hard Drive Interface?

I was starting to think about Hard Drives randomly, and i suddenly thought
"With all the advancement in computer technology, when is there going to be a new Hard Drive interface (eg: IDE, SATA, SATAII)".
At the current rate that technology is advancing as soon as you go and buy a computer part from a computer store it's almost guaranteed out-dated within a month. :(
So it came to my attension that, Hard Drive interfaces do not rapidly change as opposed to other computer components.
I would like to know, what are your thoughts?
Any ideas why it doesn't change so rapidly?

It's because the mechanical hard drive can only go so far. The SATAII interface far surpasses what a single SATA drive can transfer data at, if/when SSD's become more common and advance quickly, then there may be a much faster interface that comes along, but for now there's really no need for a faster interface without a faster drive.

When you say mechanical hard drive...i kinda thought but is there even another kind? Like maybe a government uses it or something?
When you say physical limits you mean the RPMs right? (eg:7200rpm)
SSD? Do you mean solid state disks or something?
How fast is the fastest SSD out there?
If you could provide a link that would be great. :)

So any idea/news when the next interface will be coming out?
Is another interface even in development yet?

Yes there are other types, SSD (solid state disks) are non-mechanical, as well as flash memory.
