New Hard Drive (Laptop) Sucks

I had recently got a "new" hard drive from Acer. Ever since then, been having trouble mostly with downloads. I can't get WMP 11 and I'm having trouble downloading the Acer desktop toolbar. I noticed that on my old hard drive, when you press the windows key + the pease/break key, the Acer logo would show up in te box below the picture of the cmonitor screen (in the box). On this hard drive it shows no logo. It is possible that Acer game my a re-used hard drive. It looked new when I got it. Is it possible that Acer takes old hard drives and makes them new again, I forget the word for that. When I tried t download something te other day, I couldn't and it said something about my OS. I think it was the Acer desktop toolbar.
 
Could you specify what you mean by "having trouble downloading"? What specifically is stopping you?

I doubt this is directly related to the condition of the hard drive hardware-wise.
 
I'm having trouble downloading a lot of stull like WMP 11, Windows Live Messenger and something else which I can't remember now.
 
You gotta be more specific than "having trouble". What SPECIFICALLY happens when you attempt to download WMP11, etc.
