New Hard Drive Question

I have a toshiba satellite with a system recovery disc for vista home, I had to buy a new hard drive because the oem hd stopped working. Will I be able to restore the system with the recovery disc on the new hard drive or will I need to purchase A new retail copy of vista?

I have a satellite p205
 
It will almost certainly detect the new HDD as a different drive and depending on the type of restore disk- you "may" get away with re-entering the product key after setup(like in XP) however, I have never actually come across this situation myself.
 
The hard drive should not matter. I have (accidentally) sucessfully installed a version of XP Home from a Dell laptop on a spare computer.
