New Hard Drive

I am looking for a new hard drive... I want it to be fast but it doesn't have to be that big... maybe as low as 100GB. It just needs to be fast. Should I get SSD, HDD, what do you guys suggest?

SSD. Expensive, less storage, but lightning fast. If you want a higher capacity HDD, try a VelociRaptor :)

They're no slouches either :P

I would go with a SSD. They're blazing fast compared to mechanical drives. You'll notice an overall speed up of your system.

If you go with a hard drive, buy name brand as Nevakonaza suggests - that generic label really isn't worth the cost of postage, ( 2 MB Buffer ?)

Fast is relative. That drive will read about 95 Mb/s average. You could buy two and setup a RAID 0 array for about 180 Mb/s or you could go with an SSD - Intel X-25 80 GB at about 230 Mb/s for $220. Speed is proportional to cost, you have to pay for real fast.

Well when I get my HDD back from the data recovery place I will put the specs on here and see how they compare. Then I will know if I am upgrading and what to do from there.

Thanks for all the help guys.
