i have an old hard drive laying around that is loaded with MA OSX server. Is there any way that i would be able to reformat that drive into a hard drive for windows that i can use for extra space? My brother gave me his old mac, but i run xp. i have tried to hook the hd up, but couldn't find a way to reset the drive.

any help would greatly be appreciated.

Yeah you should be able to use it either way, put it in as slave and and config jumpers if needed, go to computer management then Disk management and format the drive to NTFS, after that you should see the drive in my computer and can start using it.

Disk Management probably will fail there. The best way to see the OS X removed is to use GParted live for cd otherwise known as the Gnome Partition Editer that will clearly detect that type of partition and delete it as well as creating a new NTFS type. Once done you can use the DisK Management tool to format the drive for immediate use. You're dealing with a different type of partition that Windows won't recognise similar to Linux/UNIX there.

If you have a cd writer but not a program that can burn iso images to disk to make bootable cds BurnOn has a free version found at http://www.burnworld.com/burnoncddvd/
