New HDD for old IDE motherboard question: No SATA?

I'm in the market for a new HDD for storage for my old PIII HP computer with IDE, no SATA. Should I stick w/ IDE drives, or SATA drive w/ PCI SATA card? thanks. Looking at a 500 gb drive.

prefer SATA

Sata hard drives are faster and the connecting cable is much smaller, allowing better air circulation inside the case. In my opinion these features are well worth the $25 cost of a plug in card.

I would get a SATA + a card. If you ever decide to use that drive later its not completely worthless.
